3 years agoI've tried calling 5 times now, with a very simple question. I learned that you will never get a call back with an answer to your question, only a call to suggest that you call back should you not be immediately available. I understand that a lot of questions they are probably asked are dynamic in nature, but to offer nothing other than an official sounding "oh well" is extremely discouraging. I also understand that they are probably underfunded, but cmon, we all are. Lastly, my girlfriend has an off day in the work week so I asked if she could stop by during the open hours listed on their google information and she was met with a sign in their window that they are closed, another "oh well, tough luck" Please, at least change your hours.

3 years agoThis company should probably be audited since they put on the $10 membership receipt that it is a gift and charity rather than a membership fee. When they volunteer called to ask you your denomination information, you deny they will no longer continue the call. I was told they would have a supervisor call me back because I was unwilling to provide my identifying information or ethnic background. I have neither received a phone call back for them nor an apology for forcing to disclose my denomination. I think last time I spoke with them all they had was a volunteer to read off of a script and didn't help either. I thought it would take another chance.

a year agoWithout the help of Community Alliance of Tenants, their resources and Tenant Education, I would not have been able to successfully help my neighbors and I fight off a complex wide illegal rent increase in 2024. You guys are truly amazing and the work you do is so important. Thank you guys for helping us. I cant wait to see what you guys continue to accomplish ❤️

a year agoThe office has been closed for a week due to "the holiday" thats the message I've received every time I call during operating hours. If the organization no longer exists it should be taken down and phone disconnected.

4 years agoCAT has been amazing in both 1) informing me of my rights as a renter and 2) advocating for laws that protect me as a renter. I feel so grateful for what CAT has done and is continuing to do for renters in Oregon, especially because they're a tiny team of people. I saw a comment below about CAT being slow in their callbacks. In my experience they've been very responsive (and keep in mind it's volunteers on the hotline).
