5 months agoVanderHouwen is by far the best staffing experience I have ever had. I have worked with a multitude of other agencies but they are not nearly as professional or thorough. My recruiter Jenna was top notch. She made sure I felt prepared, informed, and motivated to put my best foot forward. They also offer more benefits than most and are always available to answer questions every step of the way. Vada was also a wonderful resource and made sure that I felt comfortable and supported as well. They were able to help me land my dream job and for that I will always be grateful. For anyone contemplating working with a staffing agency, I would highly recommend them and I continue to be impressed with their ability to provide an excellent candidate experience that far exceeds their competitor's.

6 months agoI am incredibly happy and pleased with my experience with VanderHouwen… From the very first text I received from Caitlin regarding the job I applied to, to the very first day of starting my new job, it has been an amazing experience! Caitlin stayed in touch with me, keeping me updated while going through the whole background process, and when she had to be away from the office, Kristin was my go to and everyone just worked so great together to get me started on my first day. Kristin even met me on my first day and brought donuts for the whole team! Caitlin and Kristin are the absolute best!! I cannot thank them enough for all the work they did to get me this amazing opportunity. 11 months agoI applied for a Cybersecurity Program Manager role in Portland through VanderHouwen. I had an initial engagement with their recruiter, TB. To their credit, they were responsive, the first time. Subsequent contacts were late and I had to pursue acknowledgement of my two contacts (email and phone call) — but the conclusion they reached misjudged the scope of my background and capability. TB stated that his client needed someone who had managed “multiple concurrent projects or programs from end to end,” suggesting that my hands-on cybersecurity experience and certifications didn’t reflect that level of program oversight. That assessment was inaccurate. Here are the facts. I hold CISSP (Associate of ISC²), CEH, Security+, eJPT, Google Cybersecurity, Google Cybersecurity Cloud, and CAPM certifications. I have 3+ years of project management experience leading a 20-person team at Apollo 11 and over eight years total in cybersecurity, IT operations, and governance. I’ve managed budgets, vendors, and compliance frameworks under NIST 800-53, ISO 27001, and PCI-DSS, while authoring insider threat assessments and incident response playbooks. My experience aligns directly with the requirements described — large-scale cybersecurity initiatives, risk governance, and leadership across business and technical domains. The decision to label that as “too hands-on” or “not enterprise enough” was a misinterpretation of depth, not a lack of qualification. I respect that recruiters follow client requirements, but accurate evaluation requires understanding hybrid leadership roles — not just matching titles. I challenge anyone to ask any AI if I’m qualified with 3+ years of project management experience, CISSP (Associate of ISC²), CEH, eJPT, Google Cybersecurity, Google Cybersecurity Cloud, and CAPM.
