3 months ago*response- you were paid the retainer. Therefore for a short time we had interactions with you that warrants a review of our expierence. No where is anyone angry. Yet another assumption you made! We are reviewing our experience with your firm. Sorry you perceived this as an angry review. This is just honesty of our experience with you and your firm as paying clients while appointed. As shocking as it may be, this is a brutally honest review. Im shocked you responded so fast vs when we were your clients. **** My husband and I wish we could give Natalie a better review, but our experience left us with no choice but to warn other families - particularly fathers in custody cases. Our daughter was court appointed Natalie after already having an established relationship with a previous attorney whose case settled. The other parent filed a new motion requesting the same things already settled, prompting a new case. We requested the same attorney to avoid putting our child through unnecessary trauma of starting over. That request was ignored. We understood - fresh eyes, no problem. What was a problem: communication. After being appointed, the firm reached out requesting questionnaires from both parties before providing retainer payment details. My husband responded within 24 hours with a fully completed questionnaire. Then silence for nearly a month. During that time our daughter - on her own - expressed her feelings about the custody arrangement. Her previous attorney had made clear that children are allowed to express their thoughts to parents, as long as parents aren't influencing them. He simply listened and told her he would pass the information along to Natalie. When he followed up asking about next steps and mentioned what our daughter had expressed, he was met with condescending accusations and assumptions. Natalie implied we had been coaching our daughter and involving her in parenting plan negotiations - which never happened. She suggested our daughter have a therapist - information that was clearly documented in the case file she had not bothered to review. She lectured us about parental influence while simultaneously taking two months to even schedule a meeting with our child. She also had not looked into why there was a previous attorney, why there was a new case, or what the history was - something she admitted in her own email saying she hoped to reach out to the previous attorney to understand the situation. This is information she should have reviewed before contacting either party. It became clear the firm did not review anything until the retainer was paid - despite this being a court appointed case where payment was mandatory regardless. Natalie was eventually replaced by the previous attorney who already knew our daughter, knew the case, and had an established relationship with our child. That transition happened because it was clearly in our daughter's best interest - something that should have been considered from the beginning. If you are a father in a custody case, we strongly recommend seeking representation elsewhere.
